Since 2001, Daniel Ahasic has worked as a firefighter in Illinois. He began his career as a volunteer firefighter at the Sugar Grove Fire Department and currently serves as a firefighter and paramedic at the Aurora Fire Department in Aurora, Illinois. To keep up with the latest trends in his industry, Daniel Ahasic is a regular attendee of the Fire Department Instructors Conference.

The Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) is the world’s largest fire training conference and exhibition. Held annually since 1998, the convention brings together thousands of fire and rescue professionals worldwide. The last FDIC event before COVID-19 had over 35,000 people in attendance.

During the event held at the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, attendees network and learn about the latest firefighting tactics and technologies they can use to serve their communities better. Over 800 companies participate in FDIC, and attendees also get hands-on training on the use of the latest firefighting technologies from industry icons.

The latest FDIC was held from April 25 to 30, 2022. Some of the topics covered by speakers at the event include fire investigation, rural firefighter operations, managing hazardous materials emergencies, developing your firefighter recruitment and retention game plan, and firefighter and fire officer survival: why things go right and why things go wrong.

Clarion Events, the company that organizes the Fire Department Instructors Conference, plans to hold it in Indianapolis until 2028 and has already scheduled April 24–29, 2023, April 15–20, 2024, April 7–12, 2025, and April 13–18, 2026, as the dates for their next four events.
